ANNE-MARIE (SHE/HER)

Hi and welcome!

I’m Anne-Marie, a queer-identifying registered psychotherapist (qualifying) completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology.

I invite you into a therapeutic space that celebrates your true self. Our sessions together will offer room to develop new narratives that empower you to take control and live authentically. We will work in tandem, while you show up as you are in an inclusive non-judgmental space.

My professional experience is rooted in disability advocacy, as I bring with me over 15 years of professional disability experience with a wide range of clients, life challenges and settings including schools, hospitals, and Ontario ministries. My work as a therapist is based on anti-oppressive, disability justice, and cultural safety frameworks. I lean into curiosity, and ongoing intersectional understanding and education to foster cross-cultural sensitivity in my everyday interactions and experiences.

My lived experience has played a significant role in my path to practicing psychotherapy. As a non-birth mother in a same-sex parent family, I offer a unique perspective and insight into fertility and beyond for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. The enormity of emotions that accompany this journey can be deeply personal, complicated and isolating. My goal as your therapist is to create space for you to put your feelings first and allow yourself to be cared for.

Areas where I can support you include 2SLGBTQIA+ therapy for all genders, sexual identities and expressions, self-compassion and acceptance, personal development, life transitions, dual diagnosis, intellectual disability, perinatal mental health, fertility, caregiver support, and workplace mental health. I seek to create a warm, and welcoming environment that promotes dignity, belonging, and access for all clients. I welcome the opportunity to accommodate your unique needs. This includes engaging in accessible forms of communication to support your full inclusion.

My theoretical orientation is client-centered, and trauma-informed, based in relational and humanistic approaches. As an integrative therapist, I blend a combination of ideas and techniques according to your individual needs and goals. As our sessions are collaborative, we will work together to tailor therapy to what you think works best for you.

Our therapeutic relationship will be nurtured over the course of our time together, which will be a powerful catalyst for transformative change; essential to helping you get the most from therapy and making a meaningful difference in your quality of life. I look forward to getting to know you, discovering your unique abilities, and navigating this journey together.
